“We are honored to receive this designation and we would like to congratulate the Hammond Team—each of our 820 employees across 21 locations—for the achievement of this award,” said Mike Hammond, President and CEO of Hammond Lumber Company. “The Hammond Team consists of employees who consistently provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate remarkable teamwork and collaboration, and serve our communities daily. We believe our employees have set the foundation for what makes Hammond Lumber Company a ‘best place to work’ through their dedication and daily commitment. We could not have achieved this award without each and every one of our employees.”
The 2021 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 100 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees) and large (250+ U.S. employees). Hammond falls under the large employer category with 820 employees in Maine. From the 100 companies named a Best Place to Work in Maine, only 20 large employers, including Hammond, were selected.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Maine and analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
Hammond Lumber Company will be recognized in the October 18th edition of Mainebiz where the rankings will be revealed for the first time, following a planned awards event. The Best Places to Work in Maine awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management – Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group.
